DMV Record

So I went to the DMV three times today!  I figure I am officially a Nevadan now so I better register my car and get my license.  Well it didn't go smoothly.  The only good part is I live in Ely Nevada, two of the three times I walked straight up to the guy helping me.  I also had to visit the insurance office twice.  I just keep telling myself that I'm supporting my family by paying all these state costs.  It comes back to me in its own special way via John's paycheck.  Right???

Camera?

So I swear I will start getting my camera out so that I can include some photos here.  I just have been slacking.  Addison and I went to Idaho for nearly a week.  It was really nice to get away.  We stayed at my grandparents farm in Wendell.  The weather was nice for February and Addison got to spend time outside with the kitties.  She named them all this trip.  We now have a Cobbler, Tink, Belle and something else like Grund.  She was determined that she wasn't coming back to Nevada yesterday, and that she was old enough to stay on the farm all by herself. 

It was also nice to be close to the big city of Twin Falls.  Target, Costco, Wendys, everything my simple heart desires! 

John has a 4 day weekend and he is coming Thursday night and we are heading to Utah for Friday.  It is one of those crazy hurried trips where we have to see a couple of doctors and get some work done on the car.  Still it will be nice to go back to Utah and really nice to see John.  Three more weeks and he graduates from POST then we will go to Carson City to see him.  Then 7 or 8 weeks and he can leave Carson and head to Pahrump.  It has gone faster than I expected, but I know it can't end soon enough for him!

Electricity

So I sent out a request to friends for their favorite sugar cookie recipe, because I never have good luck backing those cookies.  I tried my friend Amandas and it was excellent.  Great taste, easy dough to work with, perfect looking cookies etc.  I planned FHE to frost and decorate as we were putting together a Valentine package for John.  Well the decorating just didn't happen.  About 5:30 last night the power started going in and out.  When it was on the lights were barely on and it was like out of some creepy movie.  My dad being the electrican said to unplug everything so we did, and then went to do the same for all the widow/widower neighbors.  The power was out for 5 hours.  Serioulsy cramped my style.  It made me think how electric dependent I am.  No internet, no tv, no light.  I am spoiled and grateful for that.  I can just count on the fact that when I flip a switch something will happen.  So rather than decorating cookies we had a candle lit picnic of Subway sandwichs (couldn't cook anything) and made the best of the evening.  Seriously thought I was super grateful when the power came back on. 

New Beginnings

It seems like everything is starting again in 2011 so I'm starting a new blog.  I have another one, but I wanted to start again and try to do better (a reoccuring theme in my life right now).  John, Addison and I are all living in Nevada, just not together.  John is still in Carson City doing the Highway Patrol training.  Addison and I are in the big city of Ely living with my parents no less.  Look I just said 2011 is new, not better...

We are actually pretty great considering everything.  John at least has a good job and expenses are low when you live with family.  We miss John, but get to see him every month or so.  He finishes training in May and then heads to Pahrump, we will see what happens from here. 

I am hoping to keep people posted on the happenings in our world, hopefully they are interesting enough to keep me writing and you reading, but not so interesting I have the world following this or anything.  We miss our friends in Utah, but hopefully this will keep us in touch.
